both shows made my heart explode.

june 18’s show was amazing, the crowd was super cool, full of lots of friends and a few new faces. due to time constraints, i didn’t get to play my whole set as the square root, but i did have a lot of fun playing the hardware set with something pretty, and hope to do that again sometime soon. my truncated laptop set was full of all the crazy fast ones though, so that was fun.

the show on the 3rd, at sequential circus, was also incredible. i was a bit nervous about being on last, cause crowds tend to disperse before then, but i was pleasantly surprised by the amount of people around, and totally stoked when they were all dancing like crazy! lots even kept up when i ramped up to my 180bpm songs! tons of people came up and chatted to me during and after my set, i seriously really appreciate when people tell me they like it, cause it’s hard to tell when bright lights are in your face sometimes. there will be an audio recording surfacing sometime soon, and some video too! the other acts were really awesome, noodly melodies from wesley dysart, crazy bangers from jonnay, and a very fantastic set from dark arps. i unfortunately missed the others, but heard very good things. thanks so so so much to the peeps who put on the show, it’s so great to have support in this city.

that was so much fun! fun to see friends from all over the place, fun to see artists i love dearly, fun to hear panel discussions and interviews, fun to dance till the wee wee hours, and extra fun to play for some dancing mutek people! it was an awesome show, one of my best ever!!!!

i have 2 shows in vancouver coming up, the first one in on june 18 at the Zhoo Zhop, this is going to be a lot of fun, I know all the other artists involved and they’re all super rad. I am going to even play with “Something Pretty” before my SROE set using (gasp) hardware!

And on July 3rd I am playing at Open Studios with a massive slew of REALLY talented Vancouver people. Come support the scene! There will be something for everyone style wise.

so…….i’m playing mutek on june 4th!!! that’s fubar. i’m really excited to play in la belle province. i’m even cracking out the controllers!!!! it will be super fun, playing with old skool internet friends citifono. please come by if you can, it’s freeeeeeeee!!!

and july 3rd in vancouver, i’ll be at open studios for the 7th installment of sequential circus. i promise to make you, yes you, dance. if not, i’ll buy you a beer.

Waaaaaay back in 2004, I think maybe even my 2nd real show, I opened for this crazy act called Captain Ahab. I had heard of the them through electronic scene (OG FTW), but nothing prepared me for the amazing amazingness of what i saw. amazing. i’ll be playing too, but really, go for them.

The Square Root of Evil (Vancouver) plays hyper 8-bit breakcore that’ll make your head spin.

Pack Animal (Vancouver) is a collaboration between members of Ahna and Holzkopf. the thrash of old school digital hardcore meets searing psychadelic noise. just to point out that cuts on a ghetto blaster can be used as a weapon.

Doctor Dad’s Sound Lab (Vancouver) is neo-new age. Tangerine Dream-esque soundscapes. Clear your head. Forget your troubles.

Dj’s Davidsmind and Brad Winter will be playing mutated dance hits all night, so put on yer dance related footwear.

another show coming up this saturday!!! how could i turn down a rubik’s cube theme??? it will be a short and sweet set, get your dancing shoes on. im very excited!

i’ve been working on a neat project for “some assembly required”, deadline is tomorrow so gotta finish up! it’s fun. and then i plan to make tons of new music. TONS!

WOMEN’S STUDIES is a series of nights of experimental music, art, performance art, video, and dance curated by the members of the experimental-noise collective, Her Jazz Noise Collective. We kick off our Spring 2009 series on February 7th at VIVO Media Arts Centre. In addition to sound/music/noise/dance performances on each night, the nights will feature interactive themes specific to each event (February-Video, March-Electroacoustic Music, April-Craft/Installation Pieces). The performances contain mostly women playing mostly free-improvised music and sounds using random materials, computers, or instruments. All are welcome to attend the event. Under 19ers get in for free. This event is co-produced with VIVO Media Arts Centre. This show in particular will feature pieces with mature content and will be introduced accordingly.

the shows in july were amazing…. at the christer show i had a random drummer come up to me and ask to play along, and he was pretty damn good!!! plus it’s always nice when the sound guy tells you that he asked to do the show cause he wanted to hear your set. it was a super fun evening, and i met a ton of rad new people. the next weekend at soundwave… well…. let’s just say i am a soundwave convert. that was the most fun i have had in a loooong time. my set was fun too, the meadow stage was the coolest one by far. and mad props to the meadow boys for opening soundwave to more eclectic noises.

i am playing in a couple of weeks with Christer and Piper Davis!!! This show will be so awesome, different styles by a bunch of computer lovin ladies. I am very excited to see all the dancing ;). My set will be slightly more techno than usual. Only slightly…..

Then the next week I am playing at Soundwave!!! Besides being my favourite transformer, this is an AMAZING music festival in the middile if the beautiful bc wilderness. I am very honoured and extremely excited. This set will start at 180bpm+ and end at 140bpmish. hee hee. I will be at the Meadow stage on the Sat night at 9 pm
